OIL MAN
SCENE 1 Midtown. An FBI agent approaches a businessman, abruptly catching his attention.
FBI AGENT Mr. DuBois, I am Special Agent Lee from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The agent shows his badge, while the businessman is unsure why
he is approached by law enforcement.
FBI AGENT I know you leave town tomorrow. Please take my card. Let’s get lunch tomorrow, we want to ask you a few questions.
BUSINESSMAN My assistant will contact you. Have a good day.
I spoke to my lawyer earlier. He informed me I'm under no obligation to talk to you. So please—why am I gifting you my time?
FBI AGENT Sir, I appreciate you agreeing to meet. I just have a few questions regarding an ongoing investigation.
BUSINESSMAN This isn’t about drugs, don’t you think?
FBI AGENT What do you know?
BUSINESSMAN
If you wanna know why two Russian goons are following me around,
its cause I'm an Oil man! And what they’re smuggling is oil -not some bullshit narcotics! There is a much bigger game being played out here!
There are three main players in the world of oil production. There are us, the Americans, the Arabs, and the Russkies. Since old man Vlad decided to pay tribute to good old Saddam Hussein by invading his neighbour, we and the Europeans cut him out of markets" eats one of those steak cuts leaving the other two.
BUSINESSMAN
So prices rise. We sell to Europe at $60 a barrel. India and
China buy Russian oil at $50. Vlad can’t cash in on Europe
anymore. So what happens?
At choke points—Gibraltar, the Red Sea, the Black Sea—Greeks
shut off GPS, meet the Russian shadow fleet, do ship-to-ship
transfers. Then they falsify certificates of origin: Kuwait,
India. In Hamburg, ex-Stasi officers wave it through for
kickbacks.
BUSINESSMAN So maybe your Russians in New York are a distraction. Call the CIA.
FBI AGENT Why would they need you?
